To start eFiling today, the first step is to register with CFX to obtain a secure user-id and password. Click on Register Now and we will guide you through the simple steps to register.

Additionally, CFX provides firms with the ability to register all of their filers at once. Our firm registration allows firms to set up the relationships between attorneys and their support staff to enable close communication and distribution of relevant filings to everyone on each attorney’s team. Firm registration streamlines the sign up process, minimizing the time required of attorneys and their staff to sign up for service individually.

By using our firm registration process, firm managers can ensure that all attorneys and staff are linked to the correct office which enables them to manage the overall filing costs and free the attorneys and their staffs to concentrate on serving clients.

eFiling
Legal eFiling is a dedicated, secure web-based system that allows attorneys and their staff to file civil case pleadings, attachments and other important documents electronically with the courts. In development since 1999, the “eFilingforCourts” system created by BearingPoint was developed with the specific goal of establishing a service that requires the security, functionality, and standardization of a unified system, and allows for convenient access to courts for any registered filer, anytime, anywhere.

“eFilingforCourts” is a 3-part collaborative process among an Electronic Filing Service Provider (EFSP), Electronic Filing Manager (EFM) and the Court Clerk. The EFM is the central routing hub for the dissemination of eFilings to all courts. Legal documents are submitted to the EFM through an approved (EFSP). CaseFileXpress is the first approved EFSP. This model allows law firms to select an EFSP of their choice – similar to choosing an Internet Service Provider. CaseFileXpress provides an eFiling service that allows attorneys to file case pleadings, attachments and other documents to the courts online. A secure, dedicated system, CaseFileXpress and the EFM join together to provide this powerful new document reproduction and delivery system. Efficient and cost-effective, CaseFileXpress utilizes web-based technology to deliver the fastest and most reliable document eFiling service available.

eService
Legal eService is the process of notifying and sending service to the opposing counsel on a case through an electronic transmission instead of the traditional faxing or certified mail processes. At the time you press submit on CFX, we send your filing to the court and simultaneously notify opposing counsel that they have been served. The filer and the attorney of record will receive a receipt or “proof of service” in a .pdf document via email. The proof of service includes the jurisdiction, court assignment, the trace number of the filing, the time and date it was filed, the serving attorney, the case number, the case title, name of the documents filed and the attorneys served. The days of filling out fax cover sheets and certified mail and return receipt forms are gone. With CFX, you can “eServe” one attorney or hundreds with just a click of a button and for one flat rate. Even better, once you have entered your case information and have added all of the attorneys to your eService list, we will store the information for you, making it easy and convenient to file subsequent filings.

“Use of the service by our courts can save attorneys time, reduce total filing costs, and assist courts in becoming more efficient. This is especially critical in these challenging economic times.”

Carolyn Purcell, former Chief Information Officer, State of Texas

Internet Fax
Are you tired of preparing certified mail receipts and fax cover sheets for opposing counsel who do not use our eService? Or, what if you must serve a Pro Se litigant? CaseFileXpress is constantly looking for new services to enhance and improve the productivity of our clients' practices while decreasing their costs. We now offer a new feature that will change the way law firms send service. We want to enable our clients to use the power of the Internet even when the opposing counsel is operating with older generation technologies. With our new Internet faxing service, you can manage all of your service needs in one step. If opposing counsel does not accept eService, you can now electronically fax them through CaseFileXpress. In one step, you can load all opposing counsel for your case and choose to use CFX Fax or eService. When choosing CFX Fax just enter the fax number and click continue. We do the rest for you. We will send the cover page along with the documents uploaded for service. The filer will receive a receipt or "proof of service" via email. The proof of service includes the Document Type, Case Name, Cause Number, Date and Time of Service, Jurisdiction, Trace Number, Documents Filed, and Party(s) of Record. As always, you can rely on CaseFileXpress to deliver your documents timely without the stress of time consuming manual processes.

Discovery
Now you can use the same easy to navigate CFX website to electronically send discovery to opposing counsel. In our six step process, you will select from a drop down to send discovery to opposing counsel only, add attorneys to be served, upload your documents and press submit. Just like eService, when sending discovery electronically, the filer and the attorney of record will receive a receipt or "proof of service" in a .pdf document via email. No need to pay high postage costs to send voluminous documents to several attorneys. With one click, you can send discovery to one attorney or hundreds - all for the same cost. And you won't have to worry about documents getting lost in the mail or fax machines being offline or out of paper. With CFX your documents are delivered timely and securely and you have proof of service. So start using CFX today and avoid the hassles of dealing with paper, copies, postage, and distribution.

Reporting
How much time do you spend trying to capture information for a particular office? We can help. CFX provides firms with a powerful management tool that includes comprehensive reporting capabilities. Firm managers have their own user-id and password for accessing information at the firm level. If you have multiple offices, your firm managers can be linked to one or more offices. Firm managers can access the profiles of registered filers within the firm and view all filings submitted by attorneys and staff. In addition, firm managers can run reports with output capabilities to .pdf, Microsoft Excel, and HTML formats. Reports can be run for month to date, year to date or for a custom date range and include fields such as trace number, jurisdiction, case number, case title, filer, attorney of record, court filing and eFiling fees. With the CFX management and reporting tool, your Managing Partners can access information by office, Legal Administrators can manage the firm's filing activities, and accounting staff can run reports for billing and reconciliation. Training
As part of our commitment to providing exceptional customer service, CFX provides on-site training, training via our online tutorial, telephone support and training, and off-site training using Internet technologies.

Our on-site and web training typically consists of a presentation outlining the eFiling background, rules, and processes, followed by an eFiling demonstration of the preparation and submission of an eFiling from start to finish. If computers with an Internet connection are available, we conclude with the attendees accessing our training system and filing documents on their own. We also customize our training modules to fit the needs of our clients.

We provide a monthly web training for our Texas clients on the second Wednesday of the month at 10:00 CST and for our Washington, DC clients on the third Wednesday of the month at 11:00 EST.  Both sessions are limited to ten participants. However, you may have multiple participants in a conference room connected via speaker phone.  To join our monthly web training or schedule a web training for your firm, email us at training@cfxpress.com.

Our Texas Internet and Onsite training is MCLE accredited by the Texas State Bar.  Our training is approved for 1.0 participatory hours of CLE and .25 hours of Ethics credit.

Our online tutorial guides our clients through the process by demonstrating the steps to filing electronically. The online tutorial takes approximately seven (7) minutes and provides an in-depth overview of the CFX eFiling and eService system.

We also provide one-on-one training through our toll-free customer support line at 877-433-4533. Our clients routinely contact us as they are preparing and submitting their first eFiling and we are more than happy to guide them, step-by-step, through the process. Our 24-hour, 7 day a week customer support line provides the opportunity to connect one-on-one with our clients with the instruction they need, when they need it the most.

"Thank you so much for presenting the E-Filing in Texas continuing legal education class sponsored by the Panhandle Family Law Association. The program was a big hit and I think we all learned a lot….”

Payment
Making the court connection with CaseFileXpress is simple. Are you accustomed to spending 20-30 minutes on the phone trying to determine the court fees, then sending the courier to the courthouse to find out the check you requested from accounting was for the wrong amount? In a cost analysis study, one of our firms determined they spend $21.00 in administrative costs every time a check is requested from Accounting. With CFX, all of the fees are determined during the online eFiling process. As you navigate through the user-friendly 7-step process, we calculate the costs for you.

Every clerk that accepts eFiling has created a jurisdictional profile of their filing fees. The list of fees can be viewed by logging into with your unique user-id and password then clicking on “Jurisdiction” on the main menu bar. eFiling for Courts and the clerk work collaboratively to ensure legislative fee changes are updated to the clerk’s profile as needed. As a client of CFX, you simply log in select the type of document you are filing such as an Answer, Motion for Summary Judgment or New Petition, and we calculate your court fee, for you. If you click on the wrong choice, the clerk can fix it! Just be sure you have this option turned “on” in your profile. Do you need a citation, copies for the process server, or a jury demand? We can handle it for you – all of these services can be requested in the 7-step process.

We even offer a printable version of your receipt with your time stamp, detailed fee description and all of the information about your filing. What if you cannot find your receipt? No problem. We keep the receipt and file stamped document on our website for a year. So, if you lose your hard copy or if you need to view information about your account remotely, you can visit our website, anytime, from anywhere and get your information immediately.

How do I bill my clients for filing fees?
How much time do you spend reconciling and billing your clients? We make it easy. Each time you submit your eFiling, we capture your firm’s client matter number. For small firms and sole practitioners, we offer several reporting options including reports by client matter number, case number, and jurisdiction. You can run reports for any date range you want and bill your clients.

For large firms, we offer system integration with your internal accounting system, which reduces your accountants’ data entry burden! Our Information Technology team will work with your firm to determine your data requirements, then, send an electronic file with billing information that you can import into your internal accounting system.

How much does it cost to eFile?
Our research shows that law firms can save time and money by using eFiling. Most firms spend over $100 per filing to prepare and deliver documents. eFiling can reduce direct costs paid by law firms such as paper, toner, postage, courier fees, parking and gasoline. Additionally, staff costs can be reduced for activities such as printing, collating, and preparing documents, writing and printing cover letters, calling the clerk to determine court fees, requesting a check for fees, calling the courier, filling out certified mail cards, and delivering the document to the courthouse. We estimate that most firms can reduce these costs by more than 40% by using eFiling.

Log in to CaseFileXpress and send your document to the clerk for $10 per eFiling. (For Texas, this fee does not include the $4.00 TexasOnline and $2.00 Court Convenience fee or the 2.25% credit card payment processing fee) (For Washington D.C., this fee does not include the $6.00 Court Convenience fee or the 2.25% credit card payment processing fee).

How do I pay for these services?
Paying for these services is safe and secure! Because your privacy is important to us, CaseFileXpress uses the strongest encryption methods available. 128-bit security ensures that your information is safe and allows you to feel at ease while paying through our site. In addition, you can store your payment information in your profile instead of entering it every time you file. The information is viewable but only as the last 4-digits of your account – the rest is masked for security purposes and no one can retrieve it.
