Making the court connection with File & ServeXpress is simple. Are you accustomed to spending 20-30 minutes on the phone trying to determine the court fees, then sending the courier to the courthouse to find out the check you requested from accounting was for the wrong amount? In a cost analysis study, one of our firms determined they spend $21.00 in administrative costs every time a check is requested from Accounting. With FSX, all of the fees are determined during the online eFiling process. As you navigate through the user-friendly 7-step process, we calculate the costs for you.
Every clerk that accepts eFiling has created a jurisdictional profile of their filing fees. The list of fees can be viewed by logging into with your unique user-id and password then clicking on “Jurisdiction” on the main menu bar. eFiling for Courts and the clerk work collaboratively to ensure legislative fee changes are updated to the clerk’s profile as needed. As a client of FSX, you simply log in select the type of document you are filing such as an Answer, Motion for Summary Judgment or New Petition, and we calculate your court fee, for you. If you click on the wrong choice, the clerk can fix it! Just be sure you have this option turned “on” in your profile. Do you need a citation, copies for the Process Service, or a jury demand? We can handle it for you – all of these services can be requested in the 7-step process.
We even offer a printable version of your receipt with your time stamp, detailed fee description and all of the information about your filing. What if you cannot find your receipt? No problem. We keep the receipt and file stamped document on our website for a year. So, if you lose your hard copy or if you need to view information about your account remotely, you can visit our website, anytime, from anywhere and get your information immediately.
How do I bill my clients for filing fees?
How much time do you spend reconciling and billing your clients? We make it easy. Each time you submit your eFiling, we capture your firm’s client matter number. For small firms and sole practitioners, we offer several reporting options including reports by client matter number, case number, and jurisdiction. You can run reports for any date range you want and bill your clients.
For large firms, we offer system integration with your internal accounting system, which reduces your accountants’ data entry burden! Our Information Technology team will work with your firm to determine your data requirements, then, send an electronic file with billing information that you can import into your internal accounting system.
How much does it cost to eFile?
Our research shows that law firms can save time and money by using eFiling. Most firms spend over $100 per filing to prepare and deliver documents. eFiling can reduce direct costs paid by law firms such as paper, toner, postage, courier fees, parking and gasoline. Additionally, staff costs can be reduced for activities such as printing, collating, and preparing documents, writing and printing cover letters, calling the clerk to determine court fees, requesting a check for fees, calling the courier, filling out certified mail cards, and delivering the document to the courthouse. We estimate that most firms can reduce these costs by more than 40% by using eFiling.
Log in to File & ServeXpress and send your document to the clerk for $12 per eFiling. (For Texas, this fee does not include the $4.00 TexasOnline and $2.00 Court Convenience fee or the 2.25% credit card payment processing fee) (For Washington D.C., this fee does not include the $6.00 Court Convenience fee or the 2.25% credit card payment processing fee).
